Summertime in Mancos
Dear Friends of MVR:
Summer is here and the temperatures have been soaring. I hope you have enjoyed the last few days of rain and are looking forward to a return to normalcy. Our projects are full steam ahead after a rough year, especially the Mancos Trails Group, who started work on the new 11.7-mile trail system at the Aqueduct two miles northwest of town off Road 39. Montezuma Youth Alliance launched Reading Buddies which matches teen readers with four to eight-year-olds. They meet every Monday and Wednesday through the summer at the Mancos Public Library. I’m happy to report that the Mancos Valley Chorus is singing again and the popular monthly community dinners hosted by the Grange have returned.
MVR has two exciting events in the cue. In lieu of the Mancos Valley Summer Brewfest, MVR will hold Mancos Loves on Friday August 20th and Saturday August 21st with live music from Flashback and The Pete Giuliani Band. This is a dance party to support our 15 projects. Ticket information to come soon!
In September, we will hold our second annual online auction with some great local prizes and outdoor gear. Due to continued strict COVID guidelines, the Opera House was not an option for our film festival so look forward to seeing great films in 2022. Until then, get your auction bids ready!
We cannot thank you all enough for your continued support.
MVR held a project potluck on June 15th at the Mancos Brewing Company. This annual meeting offers a great opportunity for our projects to discuss their current programming and possible collaborations on future projects.
Donations from our community allows us to continue to support our sponsored projects.
