Dear MVR Supporters,

Happy Summer! If you’re like us, you’re welcoming the sun’s warm rays and longer days, which give us more time and reason to celebrate this fertile valley!

We have so much to share about what has happened in the past few months, and what we, along with our projects, have planned for the coming weeks. Read on and join us!

Looking back…

  • Our April non-profit summit–collaboratively hosted by Mt. Lookout Grange, the Mancos Chamber of Commerce and the Mancos Creative District, with generous funding from the Town of Mancos–was a huge success, with 33 Mancos-serving non-profits in attendance! It was a beautiful day of discovering new connections and investing in new collaborations. Thanks to all who participated and shared their energy and missions!
  • In early June, we were grateful to attend Rural Philanthropy Days, hosted in Durango by Community Resource Center.  Two full days of informative workshops, panels, and non-profit connections left us full of insights about how to create greater equity and continue to build meaningful bridges within our community.
  • We are so proud to say that in the past three months, our projects have collectively raised just over $185,000 through grants and foundation support! WOW! A well-deserved congratulations–and an enormous thank you–goes out to them for their unflagging commitment to building thriving organizations that vitalize and nourish our community!
  • Just this week, we were honored to award $11,000 of the Joseph Arado/Mancos Valley Resources Continuing Education Scholarship funds to six outstanding applicants! More details on the inaugural recipients will be arriving in the coming weeks!

And looking forward…

  • Come say “Hi!” to us at Mancos Days! We will be there celebrating with all of you on Saturday, July 29th, from 9-3. We would love to see you!
  • Interested in Grant Writing? We’re hosting a half-day workshop on August 1st at Mt. Lookout Grange! See below for more details and register by emailing dana@mancosvalleyresources.com
  • Come dance the day away with us! Mancos Valley Summer Brewfest is happening on Saturday, August 19th, from 2-8 at Mancos Brewing Company. This year, in addition to MVR, proceeds will benefit 2 of our amazing projects: Mancos United and Montezuma Youth Alliance.
  • The Mancos Valley Farmer’s Market is in full swing! Come out to Boyle Park on Thursdays, from 4-6:30 and stock up on farm fresh vegetables and other delights–along with great music and good vibes!
  • Mancos Skate Nights, brought to you by Montezuma Youth Alliance, are happening Wednesday nights from 6-8, at the newly revamped Mancos Skate Park. Grab your board and get rolling!
  • Mancos United is hosting Community Potlucks at Boyle Park most Thursdays through August. See below for the days and learn how you can help on their Facebook page!
  • The next Community Dinner at Mt. Lookout Grange is August 13th! Come meet, eat, and celebrate with your neighbors!

Hope you can make it out to some–or all–of these events, and as always, we are so grateful for your continued support!

Warmly,
Dana and All of Us at Mancos Valley Resources
